。若导线中载有1安培的稳定电流，则在1秒内通过导线横截面积的电量为1库仑。
库仑不是国际单位制基本单位，而是国际单位制导出单位。1库仑=1安培·秒（ 1 C = 1 A ⋅ s {\displaystyle 1\mathrm {C} =1\mathrm {A} \cdot \mathrm {s} }
