生平

圣高隆出身于一个贵族的家庭，就读于默维尔的芬巴和克洛纳德学校。当他接受圣职之后，他就到处去宣教，并且协助建立德里和杜罗等地的教堂和修道院。 他在苏格兰西边的爱奥那岛建立了一间修道院，这间修道院差派出许多的宣教士，高隆在苏格兰有很棒的工作，也建立了教会，并将福音传给了在莱茵河以东的日耳曼民族。

高隆是当时最伟大的基督教学者之一，是著名修道院院长和宣教士。他抄写了许多的重要文献，而这些文献也流传到各地。
